Time Wednesday 27 November, 2024 at 10:15 - 12:00
Place Humlab / Zooom

Evidence, source criticism, but also affect, through immersive technologies: humanistic simulations, museums and the heritage sector

Jonathan Westin, associate professor in Conservation and Acting Director of Gothenburg Research Infrastructure in Digital Humanities (GRIDH) at the University of Gothenburg.

Simulations in historical and artistic fields will be examined from a critical perspective that considers heritage as having a dual reality: one that defines its analytical and interpretative aspects, and another that highlights its narrative dimension, influencing the viewer's subjective experience. This dual nature will be analysed in terms of the advantages and disadvantages of technologies in heritage communication, with a focus on their impact on the perception of evidence, source criticism, and emotion.
