Lorena Neira is a climate researcher and Founder & CEO at Blusink.
In this seminar, she will talk about a project that aims to quantify the vulnerability of coralline algae—one of the most climate-sensitive calcifying groups—to ocean acidification and warming, and to determine whether their ability increase in numbers [RK1] improves when growing on Blusink’s engineered substrates. Knowledge that is highly relevant for climate-impact science, biogeochemistry, and the study of calcifier’s resilience in future oceans. [RK1]Not only to cope but also to simply increase numbers and due to the calcite skeleton also the buffer capability of the substrate+corallines against acidification
