Abstract: In this talk we study a coupled oscillator system on a network which is used to model power grids. A fundamental question for this problem concerns the question of synchronisation to a common frequency. To consider this problem, we present a theory of continuum limit using the theory of graphons. Based on this large network description, we will discuss the linear stability of synchronised states and the dependence on topological properties of the underlying network for some model problems.
