Most people in rural sub-Saharan Africa lack access to electricity and rely on traditional, inefficient, and polluting cooking solutions that have adverse impacts on both human health and the environment.
In this talk, Natxo García-López, doctoral student at Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, will present his research addressing this issues and suggesting solutions for bioenergy systems in sub-Saharan Africa. The presentation will cover aspects about a recently published study presenting an integrated agroforestry-bioenergy system for enhanced energy access and food security, and aspects on on-going studies on emissions related to biomass cooking activities in rural Rwanda.
