BMJ

Umeå University researchers can publish open access at no cost in BMJ journals. Read more about the terms of our agreement with the publisher and what it means for you here.

The open access publishing fee has been pre-paid through an agreement between the library and BMJ. The agreement applies to 28 hybrid journals (Transformative Journals) from BMJ Standard Collection Journals and their 25 open access journals (BMJ Gold OA Journals).

Terms and conditions

  • You must be the corresponding author, i.e. the one handling communication with the publisher and journal.
  • Your Umeå University affiliation must be stated in the published article.
  • Use your university e-mail ending with @umu.se. The e-mail domain is often used to recognize your eligibility.
  • Article types included in the agreement are for hybrid journals: original research articles and reviews, and for open access journals: original research articles only.
  • In order to be eligible for the agreement, your article must have a 2021 submission date.
  • Your article will be published under a CC BY or CC BY-NC license, depending on the journal. Use the open access discount search to see the license options for each journal.
  • Please note that any additional charges, for color illustrations etc., are not covered by the agreement.
