PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences)

Umeå University researchers can publish open access at a discount in PNAS. Read more about the terms of our agreement with the publisher and what it means for you here.

A discount on the open access publishing fee is available through an agreement between the library and PNAS. If you wish to publish open access in the journal under a CC BY-NC-ND license, you pay a discounted APC (Article Processing Charge) of $2000 instead of $2500. If you choose a CC BY license, the APC is $2200 and there is no discount.

Terms and conditions

  • You must be the corresponding author, i.e., the one handling communication with the publisher and journal.
  • Your Umeå University affiliation must be stated in the published article.
  • Use your university e-mail ending with @umu.se. The e-mail domain is often used to recognize your eligibility.
  • You can choose to publish open access either under a CC BY-NC-ND license using our discount or under a CC BY license at the standard rate.
  • The journal charges a page charge for all articles. Our agreement with the publisher does not include a discount on this charge.
