2014 International Student Scholarship Reception

NEWS On 16 October, international students gathered for the Second Annual Scholarship Reception along with University Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Education Anders Fällström. The reception is designed to celebrate the success of Umeå University’s high achieving international students and act as an on-campus networking opportunity.

Nearly 70 international scholarship recipients that have begun their studies in 2013 and 2014 attended the evening gathering on campus with dinner and refreshments. The students were welcomed with a speech by Anders Fällström, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Education at Umeå University.

More than 100 international students from 39 countries have received scholarships and tuition reduction from Umeå University and the Swedish Institute for studies beginning in autumn 2014. This total includes seven students from Brazil in the Science Without Borders programme.

Several students were interviewed on camera at the reception, including Debaline Bose from India, a student in the master's in public health degree programme.
