An renovated quiet study area opens at the University Library
NEWS
Finally, the University Library’s quiet study area on level 3 has reopened after having been closed for renovation for a year. Fresh, newly renovated facilities now welcome anyone looking for a silent environment for individual study.
The area, which was previously also designated as a quiet zone, has undergone extensive renovation, including partly new furniture and new surface finishes. In total, the area accommodates more than 200 study places, with options to both sit and stand at desks, or to settle into an armchair if preferred. A number of stationary computers are available, as well as docking stations for those who wish to connect their own laptop.
Lizette Odeblom, Head of the Customer Services Department, is pleased that the first stage of the major renovation project at the Umeå University Library has now been completed.
- We are delighted to welcome our users to the new study areas! We hope there will be something to appeal to everyone.
The library’s resource room for reading and writing support is also now located on this floor, in order to better meet the need for a calm and quiet environment.
Another new feature is the addition of several pods – small, enclosed booths with doors that can be booked by those who want to work completely undisturbed.
