Bildmuseet open all summer

NEWS Bildmuseet is filled with art experiences all summer - completely free. Four exhibitions with different expressions, guided tours several times daily, and in our art workshop, a place you can delve deeper into the exhibitions.

At Bildmuseet, you can experience world-class international contemporary art. Seven floors filled with diverse artistic expressions and experiences. This summer, four exhibitions are on display:

Belkis Ayón / Mythologies
Belkis Ayón (1967–99), one of Cuba’s foremost artists, is presented for the first time in the Nordic region with her monumental collagraphs.

Shubigi Rao / Pulp I–IV
In Shubigi Rao’s exhibition, we encounter stories of cultural erasure and resistance, where books and language take center stage.

Umeå Academy of Fine Arts / Infinite Proposals
Graduation exhibition from the Master’s program at the Umeå Academy of Fine Arts – the culmination of an intense period of work by thirteen artists.

Swedish Picture Book of the Year / The Excursion
Bildmuseet presents the original illustrations for Utflykt (Excursion) by Anders Holmer – named Sweden’s best picture book of the year.

Daily Guided Tours
A guided tour offers new insights into the art. Bildmuseet offers free guided tours three times a day, in both shorter and longer formats.

13:00 Lunch Tour: A 30–45 minute tour presenting the current exhibitions. On Saturdays, this tour is given in English.
14:00 Encounter with an Artwork: A short tour, about 10 minutes, focusing on one or a few selected works from the exhibitions.
15:00 Encounter with an Artwork: Another short, 10-minute presentation of selected works.

Summer Workshop
From June 11 to August 22, our art workshop on floor 2 is a space where children and adults on summer break can sit down, converse, and delve deeper into the exhibitions.

Wednesday – Sunday, 12:00–17:00
(Closed on Midsummer’s Eve and Midsummer’s Day)
