Cooking competition on campus

NEWS On Friday 7 May, the annual cooking competition ”Gebara’s Duel” will take place at Umeå University. The competition is flavoured with hungry students that have trained diligently in the kitchen. This year also features a fun carrot peeling contest for the audience with nice prizes.

The competition consists of preparing a main course using seasonal ingredients such as red beets, nettle, carrots, and others during a period of 90 minutes. All contestants are required to have a froth and a puree on the plate, in addition to the main ingredient - boneless Swedish pork loin.

The dishes will be judged by a distinguished panel at Umeå University School of Restaurant and Culinary Arts featuring ProfessorGert Klötzke, Adjunct Lecturer Ella Nilsson, and Lecturer Bjorn Noren. Scores will be given for performance in taste, technical skill, presentation, and mise en place (arrangement).
