Discover This Autumn’s Health on Campus

NEWS The programme for this autumn’s Health on Campus is now complete. On 16 September, students and staff at Umeå University and SLU Umeå will have the opportunity to try a variety of activities, discover new interests, and find inspiration for a active and healthy lifestyle.

Health on Campus offers a wide range of free activities on and around campus, as well as at other locations in and around Umeå. The aim of the day is to promote a sustainable and healthy campus life, with physical activity, community and inspiration at its core. This autumn’s programme features both exciting new additions and several popular activities returning from previous years.

–Health on Campus is all about making it easy to try something new, meet other people, and discover activities that can contribute to better health and wellbeing in everyday life. We hope the day will inspire both students and staff to find new ways to stay active and feel well, says Pernilla Eriksson, Project Manager for Health on Campus.

In addition to a wide range of try-it activities, the day also offers several inspiring lectures on health, physical activity and wellbeing. This year’s keynote speakers include Carl-Johan (CJ) Boraxbekk, Professor of Neurology at the University of Copenhagen, who will discuss how physical activity influences brain development and our ability to learn throughout life. Visitors will also have the opportunity to hear from former elite ice hockey player Danijela Rundqvist, who will share her experiences of goal setting, mental strength, recovery and health.

New Activities and Returning Favourites

Among this autumn’s new activities are opportunities to try high ropes courses, outdoor rock climbing, Argentine tango, flamenco, indoor mini golf, air rifle shooting, and a guided tour of Arboretum Norr. At the same time, several popular activities that have attracted many participants in previous years will be returning.

–We have worked to create a varied programme with something for everyone. Whether you want to challenge yourself, be creative, experience nature, or simply try something you have never done before, we hope you will find an activity that sparks your curiosity, says Tove Mårs, Project Coordinator for Health on Campus.

Registration for activities that require advance booking opens on 2 September.
