Fewer books in Legimus - risk of course literature being unavailable

The Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM), which is responsible for Legimus, will no longer produce all textbooks as books in audio format. MTM has also removed some books that were previously available in Legimus. This means that students who use Legimus may find that some books are missing.
In accordance with a government mandate, the Swedish Agency for Accessible Media (MTM) is making changes to the range of textbooks made available in Legimus. MTM states that the reason for this is that the new accessibility legislation will result in more accessible e-books becoming available. For this reason, MTM will not produce books if a commercially available e-book already exists.
In many cases, these books are not available through the University Library’s contracted supplier, which means that the library is unable to offer them as audiobooks or e-books.
For you as a student, this means:
The library can no longer commission the recording of all your compulsory text books as audiobooks if a commercially available e-book exists.
Some books that were previously available in Legimus are no longer there. The library does not have complete information about which titles are affected, but many reading lists are likely to be affected.
More books may be removed from Legimus at the turn of the year. MTM has stated that they will issue a notice prior to any removals, but we do not know any further details.
You will probably need to read more e-books on different platforms rather than having everything gathered in Legimus.
For the time being, the following applies:
Ask your lecturer whether an earlier edition might be suitable. Earlier editions are often still available in Legimus.
You may need to buy more books than before. Please note that some books are not available to buy as e-books, but only to hire.
If the e-book available on the market is not sufficiently accessible for your individual needs, or if information on accessibility is missing, please contact the support for reading and writing at the University Library. We can still order books if a commercial e-book is not sufficiently accessible to you specifically.
