High latitude climate change attracts leading international researchers

NEWS On 11–14 September in Abisko, the leading researchers from North America and Scandinavia in the field of high latitude ecology and biogeochemistry will assemble. The meeting will access the impact of climate change on ecosystems in the arctic region, an environment that is particularly susceptible to global warming and climate change.

This is the first occasion in which so many researchers from various disciplines will assemble for such a gathering.
– Climate questions demand a general understanding. With this workshop, we will create contacts between researchers, summarise the status of knowledge and find out about what areas we need to spend more focus on, says Reiner Giesler, organiser and manager for Umeå University’s Climate Impacts Research Centre in Abisko.

The workshop is organised by researchers at Umeå University. There will be a total of 65 scientists and researchers participating in the conference. On 13 September at 2:00 pm, there will be an opportunity for journalists to meet researchers at the conference. It will take place at Abisko Scientific Research Station.
