International Conference Brings Together Researchers from 19 Countries in Umeå

NEWS More than 120 participants from 19 countries gathered at Umeå University for the international BuildSim Nordic Conference, held in late August. The conference focused on the future of sustainable buildings and cities, with a particular emphasis on energy resilience in cold climates.

The conference was hosted by the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics (TFE) at Umeå University and organized in collaboration with IBPSA-Nordic, the Nordic regional affiliate of IBPSA World. The conference was chaired by Professor Thomas Olofsson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University.

Buildings in cold climate

During the conference, researchers from around the world presented and discussed their latest findings on smart and sustainable buildings and cities. Particular attention was given to how buildings in cold climates can become more energy-efficient and resilient, as well as to the development of climate-neutral buildings, districts, and cities.

Stronger international collaboration

BuildSim Nordic served as an important meeting place for researchers, practitioners, and industry representatives. The conference provided opportunities to exchange knowledge, showcase innovative solutions, and strengthen international collaboration in the fields of building performance simulation, sustainable construction, and sustainable urban development.
