Kjell Jonsson named Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University

The University Board has appointed Kjell Jonsson as the next Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University. He will also function as surrogate for Vice-Chancellor Lena Gustafsson. Kjell Jonsson is Professor of History of Ideas, and since 2006 as Library Director at the University Library.
Kjell Jonsson has been appointed for a three-year period, 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2013.
Vice-Rectors
Anders Fällström, Reader (Associate Professor) at the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, is intended to be appointed by Lena Gustafsson after she takes office on 1 July 2010.
The ambition is that Professor Marianne Sommarin will remain as Vice-Rector for research and Professor Ulf Edlund will continue on a part-time basis as a senior advisor in charge of certain issues involving collaboration work. The intention is that in the beginning of autumn, a process will be initiated to recruit a new Vice-Rector for External Relations.
The new university management will, in addition to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Vice-Rectors, consist of University Director Lars Lustig, Head of Administration Siv Olofsson and Vice-Chancellor's Counsellor Staffan Uvell.
