Last week, 14 teachers were appointed qualified teachers and four were appointed excellent teachers in the Umeå University pedagogical qualification model. With this latest addition, the number of qualified and merited teachers has now reached 139, which places Umeå University second in Sweden.
“The qualification model is a way of showing what important pedagogical work our teachers are conducting and what contributes to the high quality of our educations,” says Heidi Hansson, Deputy Vice-Chancellor with responsibility for education, and chairperson of the Pedagogical Qualification Board.
The appointed teachers become members of a network that organises regular seminars for its members. Applications to the pedagogical qualification model can be submitted throughout the year, but faculties will process applications twice per year. Deadline for the next application round is 14 September 2018, the 2019 dates are 15 February and 13 September.
