NEWS Anna Lindqvist, senior lecturer at the Department of Applied Educational Science, becomes new deputy rector at the Umeå School of Education at Umeå University.
“I’m excited to take part in and lead the development of such a fantastic organisation as the Umeå School of Education. I feel honoured that I’ve been entrusted with this task and I’m looking forward to the challenge,” says Anna Lindqvist.
An Election Committee consisting of members of the Board of the Umeå School of Education has nominated candidates for a new deputy rector commissioned by Hans Adolfsson, Vice-Chancellor of Umeå University. The recruitment process started with an open nomination procedure where members of staff at Umeå University were asked to nominate candidates for the post as deputy rector. Thereafter, a selection of the candidates have been called to interviews.
Anna Lindqvist has formerly worked as director of studies, head of department, chairperson of a study programme, and has also been lecturer at several of the degree programmes at Umeå School of Education. She has experience of leading and conducting follow ups and developmental actions within the field of education, as well as of regional and national outreach. In 2010, she publicly defended her doctoral dissertation “Dans i skolan – om genus, kropp och uttryck” (Dance at school – on gender, body and expression).
“Anna Lindqvist has extensive knowledge and strong commitment when it comes to teacher education, which means that she well suits the requirements we have of a deputy rector,” says Hans Adolfsson.

Anna Lindqvist’s post is part-time at 50 per cent, and her appointment runs until 30 June 2018.
