New radiation protection regulation – review your procedures

Umeå University has adopted a new radiation protection regulation that replaces five previous governing documents and consolidates them into a single, unified framework. The new regulation has been aligned with current requirements issued by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority and with changes to the University’s local regulations. Take this opportunity to review and ensure that your working procedures comply with the new framework.
The updated regulation takes current legislation and regulations from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority into account and reflects changes in Umeå University’s internal governance.

The new regulatory document provides a clearer and more coherent structure for the University’s radiation protection work. It describes the radiation protection organisation and how activities involving open and sealed radiation sources are to be conducted within the University’s operations. The regulation also constitutes Umeå University’s management system for radiation protection.
The updated regulation takes current legislation and regulations from the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority into account and reflects changes in Umeå University’s internal governance. By bringing together previously separate documents into one joint framework, it is easier for managers and staff to find the right information and to understand responsibilities, roles and working methods within the field of radiation protection.

Radiation Protection Organisation Plan
Regulation governing the purchase of radiation sources
Decommissioning plan for activities involving open radiation sources
Procedures for the disposal of radioactive waste
