On August 13 - 14, the Department of Computing Science hosts the 5th Workshop on Non-Classical Models of Automata and Applications (NCMA 2013).
The previous workshops in the series took place in Wroclaw (Poland), Jena (Germany), Milan (Italy), and Fribourg (Switzerland). The purpose of the workshop is to provide a dedicated venue for research on formal automata and grammars, important abstract devices that are studied in theoretical computer science.
The local organization of the workshop is made by Suna Bensch with the help of Frank Drewes and the rest of the research group Natural and Formal Languages at Computing Science, Umeå University. All papers presented at the workshop have been thoroughly peer reviewed by three international experts each. In addition to these contributions, invited talks are held by Erzsébet Csuhaj-Varjú (Eötvös Loránd University, Hungary) and Kai Salomaa (Queen's University, Canada).
