Dr Ulrika Östlund, Karolinska Institutet

Combining qualitative and quantitative research methodologies in health research– a review

Dr Östlund is a senior lecturer at the Division of Nursing, Dept. of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society at Karolinska Institutet. She has clinical experience from working with cancer care. She is also senior research fellow at Linnaeus University. Her research interests are within palliative care, specifically on dignity conserving care at end-of-life, and family systems nursing. Ulrika has long experience in the field of research methodology development, and has deep knowledge on mixed methods research and implementation science.

Professor Maria Emmelin, Lund University

Working with violence against women using a mixed methods research approach

Professor Emmelin is Professor in Global Health at the division of Social Medicine and Global Health, Lund University. Her research focuses on public health evaluation and the social determinants of health in Sweden and globally. She has worked with studies on the social aspects cardiovascular disease prevention in Sweden, the role of social capital of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Tanzania, reproductive health in Ethiopia and South Africa and gender based violence in Ethiopia, Tanzania and Indonesia. She has a special interest in methodology development, focusing on the integration of qualitative and quantitative approaches.
