Most of the Umeå University students need the multifunction UmU card to borrow books from the library or access premises. Information about the card is sent out by email to all new students. If you already are a student at the university, you need to update the validity period of the card at the start of every new term.
The UmU card is needed to borrow books on many of the Umeå University connected libraries also in order to print, copy and scan, or to access some of the university’s premises after office hours. All students (and staff) automatically receive an email with information on how to apply for the UmU card, and also containing a link to order one. New students must first activate their CAS account before receiving the email.
The validity period of the card is based on the courses you are registered for in the Ladok system. You need to update the validity of the card at the start of every new term that you are registered at the education. There are update printers on campus which you can use to add a new validity period to your card. Please contact Infocenter for more information.
