How to create a data management plan: New online course

NEWS This autumn, the University Library is launching a series of online courses on research data management. The first course focuses on how researchers can develop a data management plan (DMP).

Several major research funders, including the Swedish Research Council, Formas and the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, require researchers to prepare a Data Management Plan for their projects. However, many researchers find the process challenging. Key concepts can be difficult to interpret, and it is often unclear what information is expected in each section of the plan.

The course provides both a solid foundation in the purpose, structure and content of a data management plan and practical support throughout the writing process.

The online course follows the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) format, meaning that it is free of charge and available at any time. Participants can complete the course from start to finish as a conventional course, but it is also designed to serve as a practical guide alongside their own work on a DMP. If you are unsure how to answer a particular question in your plan, you can consult the corresponding section of the course, learn what information should be included, and then return to continue your writing.

In addition to the MOOC, the University Library continues to offer courses, guidance and workshops for researchers who would like further support in developing a data management plan.
