This year marks the 60th anniversary of the inauguration of Umeå University, which will be celebrated at Campus Umeå. In connection with this, we would like to express our gratitude to all employees and students, who together contribute to what the university is today and will be in the future.
On Thursday morning, 11 September, all students and staff at Umeå University received an email with a message of thanks and an invitation to celebrate the university's anniversary on 17 September.
Everyone who is involved in the university in any way – whether they are studying, conducting research, working with payroll, teaching, creating communications, maintaining premises, working with student health or something else entirely – should feel that they contribute to Umeå University and therefore deserve a thank you.
This is what the text says:
THANK YOU ... for being part of Umeå University. For advancing research, for learning, for teaching, for helping create a better work and study environment, for making it possible to conduct education and research in the best possible way. You help shape what this university has become and contribute to a better future.
Sixty years have now passed since Umeå University was inaugurated, and much has been achieved during that time. Today, it is one of Sweden’s largest universities. It is home to nationally and internationally recognised research, a Nobel Prize achievement, and is a sought-after place to study and work.
This calls for celebration! On 17 September – the 60th anniversary of the University – we warmly welcome all students and staff to Campus Umeå from 13:30 to 15:00.
We hope to see you there!
During the celebrations at Universum, a mug like this will be given out as a gift to students and staff. Limited number available, first come, first served.
