The blood donation bus is coming to Campus – take the opportunity to become a blood donor

NEWS On Tuesday 21 April, between 12.00 and 4.00 pm, the blood donation bus will be parked between Universum and the fountain on Campus. This will be the second visit of the term, and the hope is that more staff and students will take the opportunity to become blood donors. “Take the chance to do something good,” says Helena Häggström Nätfalk, who is responsible for the blood donation bus at Region Västerbotten.

The bus only accepts new registrations. This means that anyone interested in becoming a blood donor can take the first step by visiting the bus, receiving more information and registering as a potential donor.

To be approved as a blood donor, you must be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh at least 50 kg, and have a Swedish ID document and a personal identity number.

Helena Häggström Nätfalk, who is responsible for the blood donation bus at Region Västerbotten, hopes that more people will take the opportunity to support healthcare services.

“One day, you may need blood yourself. That’s why this is a good opportunity to do something positive and help someone who needs blood right now,” she says.

After donating blood, donors may choose a gift or donate the compensation to a charitable cause. However, no blood donation takes place at the University. Once approved as a blood donor, appointments are booked at the Blood Centre.
