The Gender Research School is announcing six doctoral positions

The Gender Research School aims to promote gender research as a perspective within various disciplines at Umeå University and to give doctoral students solid insight into how gender research is conducted both within individual disciplines and within the specific interdisciplinary field.

The activities of the Research School involve a collaboration in which admitted doctoral students have a dual affiliation – with the subject area at Umeå University in which they pursue their PhD, and with the Research School at Umeå Centre for Gender Studies.

For all positions listed below, the application deadline is 30 January 2026.

• Doctoral student in Religious Studies/Theology with a Focus on Gender 
  Co-funded by the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies.
• Doctoral student in Police Studies with a focus on police conflict management and gender (swedish ad)
  Co-funded by the Unit of Police Work.
• PhD student in Architecture with focus on Critical Studies and Gender
  Co-funded by the Umeå School of Architecture.
• Doctoral student in Philosophy with a Focus on Gender 
  Co-funded by the Department of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies.
• PhD student in Computing Science with focus on gender and language technology
  Co-funded by the Department of Computing Science.
• 1 – 2 PhD positions in gender studies
  Co-funded by Umeå Centre for Gender Studies.
