Thomas Hellström has been promoted to full professor in computing science at Umeå University.
Thomas Hellström’s research focuses on intelligent robotics and autonomous machines.
He is research leader of the research group Intelligent Robotics. The group studies how (fully or partly) autonomous machines can be constructed.
In the area of Field Robotics the group has several projects related to autonomous forest machines and to agricultural robotics. The research group took part of CROPS - Clever RObots for CroPS, and now works in the continuation project SWEEPER, also that an EU financed project. At the national level, the group is currently leading a project aiming at developing an intelligent rollator.
The group is also active in the area of human-robot interaction and coordinates the H2020 project SOCRATES, with the aim of developing social robots.
