Two Representatives from Informatics Join the IRIS Executive Board

The IRIS Association promotes research and doctoral education in Information Systems across Scandinavia and serves as the Scandinavian chapter of the Association for Information Systems (AIS). The organization is responsible for the annual IRIS/SCIS conference and publishes the Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems (SJIS).

For Both Researchers and Doctoral Students

The Executive Board consists of representatives from the Nordic member countries and is responsible for the organization's activities, strategic development, and key decisions. As a board member, Daniel Nylén will represent Swedish Information Systems researchers, while Julia Andersson represents Swedish doctoral students in the field.

"The Nordic Information Systems research community holds a unique position internationally, and having the opportunity to contribute to its future development through service on the IRIS Executive Board feels both honouring and inspiring. I look forward to continuing the development of IRIS as an open and inclusive meeting place for both established and early-career researchers," says Daniel Nylén.

The World's Oldest Conference in the Field

IRIS is a well-established organization within the Information Systems field. The Information Systems Research Seminar in Scandinavia was first held in 1978 and is considered the world's oldest continuously recurring conference in Information Systems. Since 2010, the conference has been organized jointly with the Scandinavian Conference on Information Systems (SCIS).

In recent years, the conference has attracted an increasing number of participants from outside the Nordic region while continuing to serve as an important meeting place for the Scandinavian tradition of Information Systems research.

Strong Representation on the Executive Board

Julia Andersson sees the Department of Informatics' two representatives on the Executive Board as a positive development for the department.

"Being part of the IRIS community means working together with researchers from the other member countries to build on the strong tradition of Scandinavian Information Systems research and help shape the future of the field. Participating in this collaborative environment is highly valuable, and it is especially rewarding that our department can give something back through increased engagement in the conferences and by having two representatives on the Executive Board," says Julia Andersson.
