UMA's master students part of WOOD 2013 in Virserum

NEWS Virserum Art Museum in Småland invited UMA's master students of LSAP and LiAi from April 9- April 14 to a workshop around wood. UMA students succeed in building a pedestrian bridge over a river in Virserum, with a span of 10 meters and a length of about 15 meters not using any nails, screws, angles, ribbons, glue, tapes etc. – only geometric connections.

The challenge in terms of functionality, stability, details, tolerances, manufacturing solutions, logistics, weather problems production time were extreme. The students  had only hand tools, no crane or hydraulic devices for transporting it.

The project is part of WOOD 2013, a large scale exhibition on the potential and possibilities of wood. WOOD 2013 will feature exhibitions on and about sustainability, design, arts and crafts, housing policy, architecture and building.
Students from architecture schools in Aarhus, Copenhagen, Umeå and Gothenburg are invited this spring to work with new perspectives on wood.
