Umeå researcher in international collaboration on higher education internationalisation and mobility

NEWS Nafsika Alexiadou, Professor at the Department of Applied Educational Science, is part of an international team awarded a prestigious research grant from Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE).

The grant is for a three-year project on "Higher Education Internationalisation and Mobility: Inclusions, equalities and innovations" which will focus on Roma participation in higher education opportunities in Europe. The project will start in January 2015.

This research/innovation project will focus on how principles of equity and inclusion can be applied to internationalisation strategies and programmes in higher education and on developing research and innovation capacity in this field. It will focus on the Roma community in Europe as a critical example of a marginalised group, at both staff and student levels.

The Partnership is between three universities (Sussex, Umeå and Seville) and the Roma Education Fund (REF), based in Hungary and with offices also in Romania, Slovakia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
