Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics Graduation Ceremony 2025

NEWS On June 5, the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE) held its annual graduation ceremony in Aula Nordica – the 19th edition. Around 300 students and their guests took part in the vibrant celebration, and once again, the auditorium was filled to capacity.

Students received their diplomas from USBE Dean Mats Bergman. Prestigious awards were presented, alumni sent congratulatory messages to the newly graduated students, and beautiful music filled the auditorium throughout the evening. Musical performances were given by Johan Wållberg, Viktor Edlund Hansson, and Malin Jonsson.

Umeå Sustainability Award for Theses in Business Administration


The Research Institute for Organization and Business in Sustainable Transition (ROBUST), together with Umeå Energi, has established an annual thesis award to encourage business students to engage with and deepen their understanding of sustainability and business ethics. This year’s award goes to Gustav Sigling and Johan Glase from the Stockholm School of Economics.

Nordea Thesis Award in Diversity and Inclusion


Now in its fourth year, this award is presented in collaboration with Nordea and aims to stimulate and maintain student interest in how topics in business administration, economics, and statistics relate to diversity and inclusion. The 2025 award was presented to Markus Leutwiler and Alva Lind from the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics.

Siemens Financial Services Thesis Scholarship in Finance


This award is presented in collaboration with Siemens Financial Services and aims to encourage student interest in finance and financial economics, with potential positive impact on regional skills development. The 2025 recipients are Olle Olausson and Tim Nilsson from USBE.

USBE Enrichment Award


USBE and Swedbank present this award to individuals who have “promoted development and quality in education and research at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics” and/or “supported the education and development of USBE students.” The 2025 award was given to Lisa Sånemyr, former chair of HHUS and student in the Service Management track of the Business and Economics program.

USBE Pedagogical Prize


The 2025 USBE Pedagogical Prize was presented to Assistant Lecturer Christopher Nicol. He is recognized for his strong commitment to teaching and for enhancing the quality of education at USBE.

USBE Research Institute Scientific Award


The idea behind the award is to celebrate scientific writing and to distinguish high-quality research. The winner of the Scientific Award for 2025 is Angelos Kostis, Associate Professor at the Department of Business Administration.
