UPU Research Environment Awarded Funding for Four‑Year Programme
The research environment Education Policy, Youth Transitions and Welfare (UPU) at the Department of Applied Educational Science (TUV) is one of three established research environments that have been awarded funding from the School of Education (Lärarhögskolan) for the period 2026–2030. The purpose of the School of Education’s funding is to strengthen Umeå University’s national and international competitiveness within the field of educational science.
UPU has two main areas of focus: education policy and governance and youth transitions and welfare. The funding strengthens the environment through, among other things, an international guest professorship programme, programmes for incoming and outgoing researchers, writing retreats, and international symposia. Together, these activities create important conditions for long‑term competence development, new research constellations, deepened internationalisation and continued strong external funding. The environment brings together around 30 researchers from three faculties, the majority of whom are based at TUV, where the environment is also is led by Linda Rönnberg, Nafsika Alexiadou and Joakim Lindgren.
