WCMM hosts symposium for top candidates to tenure track research positions

On March 21, the Wallenberg Center for Molecular Medicine at Umeå University organized the first mini-symposium for top candidates to its Assistant Professorship positions.
On Monday, six top candidates to the pre-clinical tenure track positions presented their research backgrounds to an audience, which included the Scientific Advisory Board of WCMM. The following day, seven candidates were interviewed by the hiring committee at the Faculty of Medicine.
The candidates presenting on March 21 were:
Dr. Anetta Svitorka Härtlova from the MRC Protein Phosphorylation & Ubiquitylation Unit at the University of Dundee in Scotland, UK.
Dr. Bjarki Johannesson from the New York Stem Cell Foundation Research Institute, New York, USA.
Dr. Lars-Anders Carlson from the Department of Molecular &Cell Biology, University of California at Berkeley, USA.
Dr. Andreas Sjödin from the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI) in Umeå, Sweden
Dr. Mattias Forsell from the Department of Clinical Microbiology at Umeå University, Sweden.
Dr. Christian Lange from the Department of Microbiology & Immunobiology at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.
“The presentations on Monday and the interviews the following day were the culmination of this first round of recruitment for our pre-clinical research positions at WCMM. This has been a great opportunity for people to meet these applicants” says Maria Israelsson Nordström, Research Coordinator for WCMM.
