Wind turbines designed for urban areas

NEWS Undergraduate students at the Umeå Institute Design School at Umeå University, in collaboration with the Umeå-based company Energy Tower, have designed wind turbines that can be placed in urban areas. On Friday 29 May, the students will be presenting their results.

During this student project, which was five weeks in duration, students have been asked to work with the design of wind turbines for new markets and environments. Wind turbines have the technical capacity to be located in dense urban areas or cities.

The collaborating company Energy Tower is located in Umeå, and works alongside innovator and product developer Eric Stiig. Mr Stiig has developed a new generation of wind turbines and is contributing with his energy expertise.
