Biostatistics and bioinformatics

Research group The biostatistics and bioinformatics group at the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, Umeå University, is led by Dr. Patrik Rydén and conducts research into developing of statistical theory and methods, implementing software tools and conducting applied analyses – all related to problems within the field of life science.

Research expertise

The group conducts active researches in the following directions:

  • Cluster analysis of high-dimensional omics data
  • Classification of high-dimensional omics data
  • Pre-processing of omics data - Microarray data and microbial sequencing data
  • Analysis and experimental designs of exome sequencing experiments for rare genetic diseases
  • Epidemiology - Spatial and temporal modelling of tularemia
