ACTclin - Activity-based framework for clinical decision-support development

Research project The project aimed at developing the semi-formal structure presented by Helena Lindgren (PhD Thesis 2007) and provide a model for knowledge assessment and formalisation.

The model builds upon activity theory and formal argumentation theory. The goal was to find means to bridge the gap between knowledge engineers and medical domain experts in the process. The structure was implemented in DMSS-R in 2008 as base for an ontology for the investigation of dementia. A system implementing parts of the structure was developed, later called ACKTUS. The ontology was generalised as a synthesis of results of pilot projects in other significantly different domains. ACKTUS is designed to be used by domain experts for knowledge acquisition in clinical and health domains using semantic structures on the web.
