Child welfare careers. A study of risk signs and interventions for children and young adults.

Research project The study deals with interventions for children and young people in care. Detailed analysis of case files and interviews of some twenty young adults, fine grained knowledge about the various factors that play a role in these children's and young people's development is obtained.

The study identifies, describes and analyzes the social measures directed at people who during their childhood had a need for extensive intervention and additional support from schools, social services and health care. Data can serve as a basis to determine the cost of these efforts. The study is based on case files of some twenty young adults with experience of social care. Most of those were interviewed also. The study shows that school absenteeism is a common risk sign; it is common with lack of continuity in the actions taken; documentation varies in quality, so do out of home placements.
