The baby-boomers retire: Cultural beliefs and social effects of an ageing population

Research project The project study the aging population from a cultural perspective.

This project investigates how the phenomenon of "an ageing population" is represented in the media and how media presentations are renegotiated by social actors and translated into action. Through discourse analysis of media materials and focus group interviews with young pensioners, care-staff and local politicians, we wish to create an understanding of how a demographic fact is interpreted culturally.
