Strengthen your qualifications as a researcher
The purpose of the Research Council's call is to give promising early-career researchers the opportunity to develop their independence and to build their scientific and teaching qualifications for future employment as an associate professor.
The Swedish Research Council provides funding of SEK 3 million per year for five years to support the researcher's activities. After this period, researchers may apply to the Research Council for an additional five years of funding at the associate professor level. Independently of this funding, assistant professors at Umeå University can apply for promotion to associate professor. If approved, the position is converted into permanent employment.
The call covers the following areas:
medicine and health, pharmacy
natural sciences, engineering and agricultural sciences
arts and humanities, social sciences, educational sciences and artistic research.
Generous funding and a strong resource package
Each awarded position receives SEK 3 million per year for five years. In addition to the salary for the associate professorship, this can, for example, correspond to:
two doctoral students
approximately SEK 500,000 per year in operating costs.
Umeå University also provides additional support to selected candidates, for example by adding two postdoctoral fellow positions to each awarded application. The final recruitment package is determined in consultation with the recruiting department.
