EC2U – the European Campus of City-Universities

EC2U, which stands for the European Campus of City-Universities, is a collaboration between nine European universities that includes their associated partners. The work of the alliance covers education, research, campus development, student activities and sustainability.


Within the EC2U alliance, nine comprehensive universities collaborate to increase mobility, improve quality and strengthen competitiveness. Their work focuses on ten areas called “work packages” and includes education, research, campus development and sustainability. The alliance also discusses various administrative processes, such as working methods and processes to facilitate student mobility. Umeå University has been part of the EC2U alliance since 1 May 2025.
