What is North Sweden?
North Sweden is the joint regional office of northern Sweden in Brussels. Geographically, it includes the counties of Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Västernorrland, and Jämtland Härjedalen. The office monitors EU policy, disseminates knowledge to actors in the region and ensures that research and innovation issues from northern Sweden are highlighted in the EU’s decision-making processes. Umeå University is one of the authorities behind the office.
Support for researchers
North Sweden can help you
- gain insight into EU research policy, into how decisions are made and where there is an opportunity to influence;
- put research issues on the EU agenda, for example through the University’s EU advocacy work;
- build networks with potential partners in academia, business and the public sector; and
- find relevant forums and events in Brussels where you can make contacts with other research actors.
North Sweden is also an active member of Unilion (Universities Informal Liaison Offices Network), where you can get in touch with other actors in your field.
