Some departments at the University offer local support services in managing research data. If your department offers local research data support, this is the first place to address your questions about research data. In some cases, local support may refer you to the research data support team.
Archive coordinator and records manager at the departments
Contact the archives coordinator and the records manager at your department for questions regarding archiving and registering.
Biobank and registry support
If you work with biobank samples and registry data, you can contact the Section of Biobank and Registry Support (BRS), formerly the Department of Biobank Research, at the Faculty of Medicine. They provide advice on ethics, study design and drawing up necessary agreements, and they coordinate the collection of biobank samples and registry data.

Courses on research data management
Umeå University offers a number of courses for staff who have contact with research data. Courses are suitable for anyone managing research data in their role as a researcher, doctoral student, administrator or manager.
Courses, workshops and other training
There are courses, workshops and other training on topics such as:
- secure research data management;
- information classification and risk and vulnerability analysis; and
- writing data management plans.

Research data management is also included as part of certain training courses.

Swedish National Data Service (SND)
The Swedish National Data Service (SND) is a consortium run by nine higher education institutions, of which Umeå University is one. SND is a national research infrastructure with expertise in the management and accessibility of research data.
