This is included in the agreement
The open access publishing fee (APC, article processing charge) has been pre-paid through an agreement between the Library and the publisher. The agreement applies when the corresponding author (i.e., the person communicating with the publisher and journal) is affiliated with Umeå University.
The agreement does not cover additional charges, such as page fees or colour illustration fees.
The agreement applies to articles accepted by the publisher in 2025 or 2026 (“acceptance date” in 2025–2026).
Journals and article types
The agreement applies to open access publishing in a number of hybrid and open access journals as well as conference proceedings from ACM.
All article types that require a publishing fee are covered by the agreement.
Choice of licence
Articles covered by the agreement are published with a CC BY licence by default, but you can also choose between various other Creative Commons licences.
What you need to do
To use the agreement, you must:
- be the corresponding author;
- be the submitting author;
- state a correct affiliation to Umeå University in the manuscript; and
- use your university email ending with @umu.se.
Contact the Library for guidance if you do not have an Umeå University email address.
Good to know about the publishing process
Upon acceptance, you will get an email from the publisher with a link to a form to complete the publishing process. If you have used your university email ending with @umu.se, the text “This paper is part of the ACM Open Program” should appear in green at the top of the form. If you cannot see this text, do not fill in the form. Instead, contact ACM for assistance.
Select “Institutionally Paid Open Access” when asked what rights you want to grant ACM.
You will be offered a CC BY licence as default and will only have to make changes in this part of the form if you want to choose another Creative Commons licence.
