This is included in the agreement
The open access publishing fee (APC, article processing charge) has been pre-paid through an agreement between the library and the publisher. The agreement applies when the corresponding author (i.e., the one handling communication with the publisher and journal) is affiliated with Umeå University.
The agreement does not cover additional charges, such as page charges or charges for colour illustrations.
Journals and publication types
The agreement applies to journals included in BMJ Premier Collection and BMJ Gold OA Journals.
The agreement applies to research and review articles. For a detailed list of article types per journal, see: BMJ title list and article types 2025.
Choice of licence
Articles covered by the agreement are published with a CC BY licence or CC BY-NC licence, depending on the journal. Use the open access search tool to see the licence options for each journal.
What you need to do
To be covered by the agreement, you must:
- be the corresponding author;
- state a correct affiliation to Umeå University in the manuscript; and
- state Umeå University as your primary affiliation in the publisher submission system.
We recommend that you use your email address ending in umu.se, which simplifies identification of your Umeå University affiliation.

It is crucial that you review the terms and conditions on the website of both the publisher and the journal in which you choose to publish.
