Nature and Nature Research journals

Umeå University researchers can publish open access at no cost in Nature and Nature Research journals. Read more about the terms of our agreement with the publisher for 2025 and what it means for you here.

The open access publishing fee (APC, article processing charge) has been pre-paid through an agreement between the library and Springer Nature. The agreement applies to open access publishing in the journal Nature and in Nature Research journals. The agreement does not include other Nature journals, Nature Protocols, or Nature Reviews journals.

For Nature Academic journals, go to the Springer Nature agreement.

Terms and conditions

  • You must be the corresponding author, i.e., the one handling communication with the publisher and journal.
  • Your Umeå University affiliation must be stated in the published article.
  • Use your university email ending with @umu.se. The email domain is often used to recognise your eligibility.
  • The agreement applies to original papers or "standard article" (this type of article can also go by the names: analysis, article, letter, brief communication, registered report, resource, technical report). Does not apply to review articles.
  • The agreement applies to articles accepted by the publisher in 2024 or 2025 (“acceptance date” during 2024-2025).
  • Your article will be published under a CC BY licence.
