Order ISBN

Order ISBN for a thesis, book, report, anthology or other monography where Umeå University is the publisher.

How to order ISBN

The University Library manages the assignment of ISBN for publications where Umeå University is the publisher. Use the form further down this page to request an ISBN.

Each format needs its own ISBN

If your publication is published in both print and digital formats, each format should have its own ISBN. The format is given in parenthesis:

  • ISBN: 123-12-1234-123-1 (print)
  • ISBN: 123-12-1234-123-1 (pdf)

Theses must always have both a printed and a digital ISBN. The digital ISBN is needed because the thesis is published digitally in PDF format in DiVA.

Also indicate the ISSN for serial publications

If the publication is part of a series, the ISSN must also be indicated. Please contact the administrator at the publishing faculty or department to obtain the ISSN and serial number for your publication.
