Public posting is done electronically
The formal public posting of your doctoral thesis occurs when it is published electronically in the DiVA database. This ensures that the thesis is available to be read before the public defence. All information that the public needs to know before the public defence is included in the information about the thesis in DiVA and in a way that is easy to share. The doctoral thesis is to be publicly posted at least three weeks prior to the date of the public defence.
Let the library assist you
You need to submit an application for a public defence to your faculty well in advance. Once the faculty has approved your application to defend your thesis, the library will book the date for the electronic public posting and contact you with more information about the posting process.
The library will review your registration in DiVA before publishing your thesis. It is also important that you have registered your thesis at least three business days prior to the date of your public posting.
Publication then occurs automatically on your posting date – regardless of when you registered the thesis in DiVA.
What to consider when publishing your thesis
Reserve a time for a public posting ceremony
You can reserve a time for a public posting ceremony, where you physically nail your thesis to the board in the library. The ceremony is not a requirement. Instead, you decide if you would like to reserve a time for the ceremony.
