Software for data management

This page has information on services you can use for managing research data in different ways. Contact the IT Office for advice on data management plans or contact the University Library with questions about publishing and making research data accessible.

Microsoft Office and other Microsoft 365 software

Umeå University has various licensing agreements with Microsoft. Researchers with an A5 license, for example, have access to Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerBI Pro and Microsoft Bookings.

Visit Aktum for more information about licenses for Microsoft software (UMU ID required)

Sensitivity labels

Sensitivity labels in Microsoft 365 help you manage your Office documents (such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and email securely. The extra protection that a sensitivity label provides can include encrypting emails and limiting how information can be shared and who can open or read an attached attachment.

Visit Aktum for more information about sensitivity labels (UMU ID required)

Adobe

Umeå University has a volume license for software from Adobe with discounted prices for research. The majority of Adobe’s products for graphic design, image processing, audio and video editing, web design and the like are available for Mac and Windows.

Visit Aktum for more information about what is included in Adobe’s volume agreement (UMU ID required)

Software for accessibility

Umeå University offers software to support individuals with reading and writing difficulties or visual impairments. These include spell checkers, word prediction software that suggests words as you type, dictionaries, speech synthesis software, and tools for spell checking and grammar checking.
