My research area is primary hyperhidrosis (localized and excessive sweating), and I primarily work with clinical research using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. In the quantitative part of my research, I have developed and validated my questionnaires, which have been used in the treatment of patients with primary hyperhidrosis, as well as to investigate sweating in the Swedish population. Other research on hyperhidrosis that I conduct includes studies on the Impostor Phenomenon, heart rate variability, the development of instruments for measuring hyperhidrosis, and Clinical Trials of approved medications.

In my qualitative work, where doctoral students assist me, we explore experiences of living with lipedema and pain experiences associated with psoriatic arthritis. I am also a member of a national group of researchers investigating Topical Steroid Withdrawal Syndrome in the Swedish population. I am a member of the steering committee for the national registry concerning Swedish patients with atopic eczema (SwedAD).

I have also worked with the National Board of Health and Welfare in Sweden to develop guidelines for the LASER treatment of children and adolescents with gender dysphoria who suffer from excessive hair growth. Additionally, I am part of a national group, through our specialist medical association (SSDV), that develops and updates guidelines for the treatment of primary hyperhidrosis.

My teaching primarily takes place within the medical program, where I periodically serve as the subject or course coordinator for dermatology and venereology. I also teach to some extent within various advanced specialist education programs for physicians. I regularly lecture for dermatologists both nationally and internationally. My teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English.

Teaching Areas:

Medical program (course coordinator for dermatology and venereology), diseases of the eccrine and apocrine glands, LASER and IPL as light-based treatments in dermatology, and topical corticosteroids. Practical training for subspecialists in dermatology concerning LASER and IPL. I also teach a graduate course, supervising doctoral students and junior researchers who have not yet completed their dissertations in several seminars on research methodology.

Clinical Training for Dermatologists: National practical training sessions on the treatment of hyperhidrosis with injections and, if necessary, nerve blocks. International courses and conferences regarding hyperhidrosis and LASERS in Dermatology.
