Ali Onat Turker is an architect and a lecturer at Umeå School of Architecture. He holds a civil engineering degree from Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and an architecture degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States. He has worked at various architecture and civil engineering firms across the United States, the Netherlands, Turkey, and Russia, bridging the two disciplines. His interest in experimentation and critical thinking led him to teach at several architecture schools in Istanbul. In his current academic position in Sweden, he explores the integration of structural thinking into architectural education. His teaching emphasizes hands-on experimentation, embodied learning, and the creative interplay of force, form, and material through innovative model-making, workshops, and full-scale installations.
