My research focuses on care encounters, accessibility, and how healthcare is experienced, understood, and managed by older patients and their relatives. I am particularly interested in how relationships, communication, and organizational structures influence people’s access to care and their ability to navigate the healthcare system.

My doctoral research examined care encounters in home healthcare and was based on the combined experiences of nurses and older people: Experiences of care encounters in Swedish home care settings: Perspectives from older persons and home care nurses. I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at Umeå University within the project Mapping the Maze. The project aims to work collaboratively with older adults with multimorbidity and their relatives to explore the strategies they use to access healthcare and to develop support that facilitates healthcare navigation. Between May and December 2026, I am the principal investigator (PI) of a co‑creation study in which this support is developed in close collaboration with older adults, their relatives, and healthcare professionals.

I also participate in the research network Eduwell – Education for Health and Learning, hosted by Mid Sweden University. The network brings together researchers from multiple disciplines through Nordic collaboration between Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Iceland, with a shared interest in the role of schools in promoting health and learning. Within Eduwell, my focus is on mental health among children and young people, and on how health education in schools can be developed and integrated into teaching in ways that strengthen students’ well‑being and participation.
